Moving UNA instance to a Virtualmin virtual server

I want to move an UNA instance currently installed on a cloud server to a Virtualmin server on the existing server. Would I be able to backup the files and database and move to the Virtualmin server or would I need to go through the installation process as if I was installing on a new server?

    • I think that you'd have a lot of problems with moving it to Virtualmin server since Virtualmine has "a mind of his own"

Maybe if you manage to "repair" all the links like site's home folder, and all other links then the site might even work.....

But I believe other more experienced members here on una.io can give you more comprehensive answer. I am running una site out of Virtualmin althoug I have it also running on my server......

      Best regards

      Mayki

        • Ha ha @MSolutions

@RJ Arsenault I can do it for free 😉

          • very commercial - $59 is much chipper then nice rounded $60

            😂

            • One more question @RJ Arsenault : why do you want to move una to Virtualmin? It isn't free....

You can have more virtual hosts on one server without Virtualmin.....

You need to backup everything before installing Virtualmin because Virtualmin is going to delete your current web server settings and install new one in webmin....

              • I understand that you have an UNA site and you want to transfer it to a different cloud server.

                1. rsync the files into the new virtualmin home site directory.
                2. export the database (from phpMyAdmin) into a sql file and rsync the sql file onto the new cloud.
                3. import the sql into the new database in virtualmin
                4. change the ownership of all your home directory files to the new virtual server's username in virtualmin.

                EDIT: I edited the typos

                • Not to forget:

                  • checking the path to home directory to be the same as before
                  • checking database credential

If those settings are not correct then edit a file in:

/una-home-directory/inc/header.inc.php , to correspond to the new virtual host in Virtualmin

                  😉

                  • I want to have other softwares on the same server - with their own databases - and not have them conflict with UNA. I think different virtual servers inside would be the best way to do this.

                    • Yes that is what Virtualmin is for. How many virtual serves you can create in Virtualmin depends on your subscription. I can have 10 of them ( currently using two, but not for Una.)

As @MSolutions would say: I can offer you hosting for $59,99 USD ha ha ha

                      Just kidding @MSolutions 😆

                      • Hello @RJ Arsenault !

Yes, you can export the current site to your new hosting. See details here https://una.io/wiki/Cloud-FAQ point 4 "How to migrate from UNA Cloud to other hosting?"
