Photo Size
Also noticed when I create groups and events the cover and profile images are huge making page load slow. Are the photos not being resized on upload if not this is nuts because each photo is 2+ meg not cool for loading on a web page multiple times.
Thanks for input on this

Cover image should be big enough to be displayed on the whole page width, this is reason it loads a bit slow, you can reduce size of cover image, but it's not recommended.

What is the suggested cover photo size?
-
By default we resize it to 2000px width

I'm more concerned with file size not px size. the file size remains way to big need to auto resize the file

If more image size in px then it's more in kb. Also please note that for retina screens images are resized in 2x more resolution which cause images files to be up to 4x times more in kb.

I had this problem too. when uploading photos its'should be resized lossless using some compressing API then upload to server. slow website load is a major problem now days
-
Hodor Hodor we already have feature to resize images on client side, then upload to the server:
Studio > Settings > System > General > Image width to resize before upload & Image height to resize before upload

I suggested to upload image size as is then resize by size like from 800kb to 200kb regardless to its messerioment like google do in squoosh app or compressor.io.
messing up with width and height is a risk 😱

installing some custom compressor will require some additional server requirements and software installed on the server, which can complicate UNA installation. It maybe someone will add such feature as 3rd-party module.

i suggested before using cloudinary.com API in addition to s3 bucket this service can serve resized images (and more) it's quite easy too

cloudinary.com isn't just for the storage it's for audio & video transcoding, we can consider it for the future - https://github.com/unaio/una/issues/1967
