The new Messenger
The biggest Messenger update is now on UNA.IO and we are testing. Please try and share your observations.
This update introduces a 1-2-3-column adaptive layout with
- Contexts
- Threads
- Direct Messages
- Replies
- Mentions
- Reactions lists
While we have been working on this version for over a year now, its the first time it's running on a live site, so we really need your feedback to iterate and release a stable build soon. Thank you!

Yep! @Genesis. Some people just don't feel confortable with video calls or video conferences. Also a voice call or audio-only conferencing reduces mobile data usage.

Where is the "compose" button, or "create new chat" button?

Hey @Karina The Inbox menu, it's where your messages are sent when you start them from someone's profile using the 'Message' button (@Alexey, please correct me if i am wrong). The Direct menu, it's where you can PM someone straight from the Messenger and start a new chat. The 'Create/Add a new chat' button is found in Direct > 'Create a New Talk' icon (the + icon next to the search icon at the top of the Messenger).

OOOOoohhh I see it now! Thanks for that clarification @OneEagle . @Alexey Is there a way to merge 'Inbox' with 'Direct' so that the + icon is always there. and maybe change the + to a Pen to make it more obvious for us non-techy users.

Yes, you are right. You can create talks ( to view + icon to create talks) in Direct area. It allows to create private talks. Also + icon is available in the bottom menu where you can see modules or pages. There are the all talks which are connected with modules/pages where Messenger blocks exist.
For example: if you have Talk block on groups view page, then in new Messenger's menu this talks will be available in Inbox area (there are the all your talks) and in Groups module section in the bottom. Now you can create any number of talks connected with one page in any module where you have talk's block. It means one module's page/page can have many Talks with the same groups of members. Also you can create many Direct talks with the same list of members and set Titles for the Talks.

Trying to use the Search feature on messenger- and it seems to populate the chat where that word appears but not the exact dialogue. Can't find those specific messages.

Will there be an option to delete content like Replies etc after a set period of time?

I posted earlier I was having issues with the new Messenger on here. The is a Clip of me clicking on everything. I have also made sure that no script blockers were causing the issues.

I cleared the cache and it's still not working I'm using Google Chrome ver 113.0.5672.127
I logged in using Firefox and was able to chat and there were no issues. It must be a chrome thing I'm guessing.

I just tried accessing the new chat with Firefox and everything works fine. It must be some sort of google chrome issue.

I haven’t tried on desktop, but I have tried on mobile. It works on the web but not the app.

My version of google chrome still can't see or use messenger correctly. Nothing works when you click on it: version 114.0.5735.91

It works fine in Firefox, I can chat, move around and click on things. Here in Chrome, which is my primary browser nothing works or is clickable. I've hit Control-R and cleared the browser cache and history

Still having issues, no way to type in a chat/message, and when I click on anything it doesn't work.

I won't install the new messenger on my two sites until it works on this one. I can't afford to have google chrome users left out and unable to chat and use messenger. I'm using Google Chrome: version Version 114.0.5735.110 (Official Build) (64-bit). I've already hit CTRL R and manually cleared my cache and history. I have to use Firefox to use messenger services on this site.

As usual - via the Apps Market->Updates area. If you don't see Messenger in the list there then it means your UNA license doesn't included this app.

Can you please specify. Did you install messenger version from GitHub? If so, you also need to perform two command in console in the root of the messenger folder (module/boonex/messenger) like this:
npm install
and then:
npm run build
it will generate css and js files for Messenger

npm command not found. I will have to see if the server admins can install npm on the server
