Why can't I take my vote up/down back?

Maybe I don't get "Vote up / Vote down" reactions right. I'm not a member on reddit and I do not have much experience with upvotes/downvotes on other platforms.

But sometimes, people make up their minds and want to revise their first reaction. That's possible with likes, with favorising, with befriending, following, etc. Only with Up-/Downvotes I have to stick to my original choice. When klicked, it's forever.

Can anybody explain the reason why Upvotes / Downvotes behave completely different than all the other reaction options?

Down votes are not working. Here, the Up votes are sticky. On Reddit up votes can be changed to down votes.

Dear @Anton L , can you tell me, if upvotes/downvotes are supposed to work that way? After the first click up/down buttons get inactive. View counter looks ghosted, too. Even here on UNA.io, Protean template.
