We haven't been able to reach our UNA community for at least a month now. It keeps getting an error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN. What can or should we do to fix this?

    • Check DNS configuration and renew it. Maybe you use free or poor nameservers. Maybe some records cached with error.

        Thank you for responding to my question. Maybe I do use free or poor nameservers? The fact that I have no clue where to start looking if that is so, made me figure that I do not understand the function of DNS all that well.
        I will give you some more background information on how the problems started: We were given a new IP number, and we had to "re-connect" the web address to a new IP number. I suspect something went wrong there, but we have no idea how to fix it.
        The lady who was going to code for us suggested that probably the servers that are 'in-between' UNA-servers and our own computers, haven't been updating the IP number and web address correctly. It should be updated in a span of about 48 hours max. It has been a month now.
        So if that's where the issue lies, what to do?
        I have looked into DNS on Google to begin with. There you can find several lists of options, that are more or less the same. I tried all things I could do at my place, on my own computer system:
        - So I did renew the DNS release on my computer, but it doesn't work.
        - I have tried different browsers, it's not that either.
        - I have emptied my cache, cookies and all that jazz, it doesn't make a difference.
        - I mainly use an iMac. I used my phone. I used my PC laptop. I asked others to try and visit the site. It doesn't work. Actually it doesn't matter who tries to access the site. They all get the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error.
        - I also tried to access our site using the IP numbers only, it doesn't work.
        If it is possible, should I renew the DNS configuration of our Una website within the CMS system?
        If so. Where can I do that? I can't access the site, not the front-end, nor the back-end.
        I also never found the actual data of our site, so it seems we do not have actual access to a UNA server in order to replace possible error records.
        In other words; I am actually confused!

            It seems this trouble usually happens in Chrome browser. Did you try to check it with other browsers?

            • Hi LeonidS Yes, we did check other browsers, devices, and connections. They all give the same error.

                • It looks like you changed domain to your own for your UNA site, but instead of specifying your own domain, you specified *.una.io subdomain.

                  If you need to specify your own domain, then please point your domain to the specified IP and then change to your own domain. If you need help with setting this up, please contact me via messenger.

                    • That is good because I was going to say that your ip and domain isn't mapped correctly. Was going to use some tools to check ip and dns information. More than likely the domain is not setup to the right nameserver. That is why you cannot access it via domain name or ip address. It isn't being translated from www.domain.com to ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx That's what the job of the nameservers is to convert name to ip. Anytime you register a domain (or switch hosting companies), you have to make sure you have setup nameservers correctly with your domain registrar first.
