Comment to 'Any UNA powered site with + than 10 k members to share ?'
  • We have quite a few enterprise level sites that our team has serviced running with more than 10k members. Some with many more, close to 1 million. They are white labelled sites and covered by NDA's so we can share their details publicly. Some are new sites, with a good plan and viral growth, a couple are transitioning exisiting sites with large membership into UNA.
A lot of the feedback we have received testing these sites over the last 6 months has fed into the speed enhancements packaged in UNA 10. The good news is that UNA holds up well in large and active sites, although most sites will probably need some assistance with server configuration when they get to this scale.

    • Hello Mark, you say 10k, a million, but what would be interesting to know is what server capacity?

Server capacity is not really governed by member numbers but more by member activity. How active are the members and what sort of content are they posting? A video site is obviously more server intensive that a discussion site like UNA.IO. As a site scales, remote storage is always an option to maintain site performance to keep down costs.

I'm no expert in this area, but I'd say that any site with much more that 20,000 members is probably going to need some professional consultation from a skilled technician such as Alex T.
