Comment to '"Follow" doesn't appear on Organization's & Event home pages and Organization's & Event profile pages'
  • Hello Aleks T,

    Thanks for clarifying the logic.
I am not sure Spaces module will fit, mainly because it is not an "ID" -> you cannot blog nor create events in the name of a "space" or a "group" -  with Orgs you can.

The Organization module is very close to my needs. Within my "niche", I  want interest groups  to create their "organization's mini website" on the platform instead of spending time creating an independent website and fight SEO in order to be visible... by the community. I see the org module as a "mini website", a possibility to blog, create events, gather members and followers,... like you would do on a "traditional" website with more reactivity from a qualified audience.

I cannot wait for a future release, thus, the solution I am considering is :
    - use the "join" function, with a different wording : "subscribe"
    - I will simply "force" the field "confirm subscription" to "no" and not display it in the organization's creation and edit forms.
    - no use of the follow button

Then I think that people who click on "subscribe" (="join") will get notifications for any new post, event, etc...

    My questions :
    - Do you think those settings will fit my needs ?
    - What is the difference between "join" and "follow" regarding notifications ?
This is a temporary solution, and I agree with the other comments that the "Follow" question is very important for a social network, and that something is missing between the "spaces" and the "orgs" as it is today. It is important that some people have access as "admins" (in order to create blogs, events, ... in the name of the organization), but it is also important that some people can just "follow" what is happening (reading interesting blogs, be informed about events, join events opened to everyone,...) without "joining".
    Thank you for your help.
