It’s about time we had a complete native mobile experience on the una mobile app. 90% of internet users focus on mobile views and 80% on mobile applications. No matter the innovative idea or great framework built. It’s emty and useless when there are no active users on your site. At una, we have quite a lot of tools and customization that’s rare to find else where. Everyday I keep learning more about this beautiful framework with practical endless possibilities to new innovative product. Sadly, all these are better viewed from desktops in which our target audience don’t use as most preferences are now on mobile experience with complete native mobile apps. I always commend the great work and ideology of the una project as it has helped me bring my idea to light but now it’s time to market these ideas and builds to the public and to our target audience and users. Regrettably, the market is not desktop friendly and to have a mobile app in the market nowadays, it must be completely native so as to give a better experience compared to web view. It must be fast and not depend all it’s resources on web view browsing. Una 13 is coming soon, which is a big leap, I believe  it’s also a great opportunity to focus more on our mobile experience and transition to a complete native mobile app. Like Will Roberts had emphasized on several of his post, if we don’t change our focus on mobile experience especially to having a complete native mobile experience, all our ideas and innovative frameworks will eventually be stolen and utilized by these big social tech companies. Also I understand it’s not a easy task to implement right away as funding plays a big role in the changes we so yearn for. I propose we have a dedicated donation to this at voluntary support to fund a complete native una mobile app. Say a minimum of $50 voluntary donation per person to the una team to support their works for the una app. It’s just an idea and comments are welcomed. If interested in this please leave your comments. I believe if we all can sacrifice at least $50 for this... it will save us thousands of dollars in near future and we surely be compensated with having active users in our communities.

    • When I switched over to UNA it was because I had mobile viewing in mind. I'm glad that UNA is now getting serious about why mobile view especially apps is so important. Apps capture a huge audience of users today. More and more people have phones vs computers. With mobile apps they also need to look different than mobile website viewing because people like to be engaged. From simple button effects to easy navigation. I noticed that the best looking sites always use CSS effects while the least engaging sites are static, bland, and use outdated buttons/icons etc. Hopefully Tailwind will bring in the extra CSS effects that make an app unique. Focusing on app builds and flexibility has the potential to flood and expand UNAs user base. While a lot of customization can be done by other developers and designers it takes more effort and money to maintain the same concept through each update. Errors occur, more bugs appear, and they can't be fixed via UNA because it's custom work. I am extremely excited about UNA 13 and look forward to the long awaited live streaming option. Live streaming isn't just a great addition, it helps monetize Social Networks while competing with Facebook and so many others.

We offer PWA services. You get a fully packed web app completely compatible with your una site customization. The web app can be added to any device homescreen and it will function like a native app.

        image_transcoder.php?o=bx_froala_image&h=5297&dpx=1&t=1627656625

Differences compared to Native Mobile App

        - Speed (faster load time)

        -Low size (in kb)

        - Multi device support (pwa can be mobile, tabs, ipads, desktop, etc)

-No download. Just install/add to Homescreen.

-Since it requires no download, PWA uses only a very small portion of the phone’s memory.

-Unlike Native apps, PWA works like any website so it can be indexed in search engines.

-You can easily deploy your updates without the need to wait for the app stores approval.

        - Suited for most websites with no worries of app stores (google/apple) compliances.

-supported by popular browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.

        - All web notifications are directed to web App and opens exact link page

        - all links opened with web app goes to exact page (whether app is open or not)

        - More Cheaper and convenient for all.

        Similarities.

        - Almost native (interacts with other native apps and listed among installed apps)

        - it's also an app

        Conclusion

        - PWA like any framework has it's pros and crons. Nevertheless, it can be quite useful for all starting webmasters as well as big sized websites who wants to optimize users experience.

        - PWA is not a replacement for the native app but it can be an addon for all websites. In a nutshell, native apps can help your website branding with a store presence especially when it's listed on google/apple stores. Moreso, adding a web app experience to your brand gives you an added advantage when it comes to usability for all.

PWA notification (up) vs Native Mobile App notification (down)

->if web app is also set on one signal, Notifications show up like a regular app notification but with the website name beside the app name on preview. See attached screenshot for difference:

        Regular Native App->

The number of mobile users today is greater than the number of desktop users!

Consequently, businesses have realized the need to effectively use mobile channels for attracting customers. They now need to optimize mobile apps and websites to improve their customer’s experience and increase their conversions.

That being said, studies show[1] that users prefer mobile apps more than mobile websites. This makes for a strong reason to create mobile apps[2] for reaching out to potential (and existing) customers.

In addition, there are various other reasons, too, that make mobile apps better than mobile websites:

        1. Provide More Value to Your Customers

        2. Build a Stronger Brand (New Branding Experience and Brand Presence)

        3. Connect Better with Customers

        4. Boost Profits

        5. Reach out more to younger demogrphics

        6. Mobile Apps Offer Better Personalization

        7. Ease of Sending Notifications

        8. Advantage of utilizing features of a mobile device like camera, contact list, GPS, phone calls, accelerometer, compass, etc.

        9. Users Spend More Time on Apps (Mobile users spend 86% of their time[4] on mobile apps and just 14% of the time on mobile websites.)

        10. Apps Can Work Faster Than Websites
