Photos posted on timeline not in an album

Not sure if this is a bug or setup by default, but the images I post to my timeline do not show up in my photos nor albums. I think maybe we should have a default photo album that is created by default when users join. This album will hold all the photos they post to their timeline.

Is this a current possibility and I'm not understanding how to do it? Or can this be implemented in the future? Thanks.

    • I agree with this. I post things in the timeline, but photos and videos are still empty. I think that the photos and videos apps should be somehow connected with the timeline so people can find the media.

      • Timeline and Albums media are separate. We try to avoid interdependence of modules whenever possible, but there is certainly some merit in having auto-generated Albums like "Profile Images", "Timeline Images" and "Cover Images" that automatically duplicate the uploads made to respective modules. This would be an evolution of Albums module, planned for future updates.

          • Replied on Github. I was hoping for better news.

            • This is very important, unless there is a way to disable the page

              • The challenge is in keeping all content and media of a module contained to that module. Media added to “updates” in Timeline is not the same as, say, media added to Photos or Albums modules. Imagine what happens when, say, an Albums module is uninstalled, whole Timeline so still running. Or the other way around.

Presumably we could have a separate page/tab just for the timeline media wishin the timeline module. That would only include media added via updates though.

Another potential direction is to use a system File Manager for all media uploads and only treat modules as publishers.

                • I think that with proper organization it's already possible to do what is needed, installing everything isn't good idea, you need to choose one way for posting post, one way for posting images and one way for posting video. We tried to create modules self consistent and some modules can have similar functionality, so it's better to choose one module for one purpose or configure it correctly to not confuse your users. As for Timeline - it's possible to build whole site around Timeline only actually and it needs to be configured if other modules are installed along with Timeline.

                  • I actually think that it is better to have both ways. This way people can upload public photos onto their timeline like status updates without being a nuisance to the rest of the site. And also, I can restrict the rest of the apps so admins, mods, or maybe premium members can post into them and only allow free users to post on their timelines. Or maybe I want to have a Netflix type of site where my company creates all of the media, and this way the members' timelines won't affect my premium quality media.
