My opinion on Rc10 and more

Well I'm disappointed, and probably more than that. I have doubts. Not because the ideas are bad, no, as always, it's a good job, but because I have the impression that we are still far from a stable and functional version.
I like to test, I like to give my ideas, and I do it with good heart, yes I like doing that but not THAT.
I need to use the things I'm involved in. I repeat for some time now, I do not need major upheavals and novelties with each update, each time the old bugs are fixed, some subsite, and each time, inevitably, new ones are created. It does not matter if it is a version that can be left out, but here I can not do without it.
I have watched the weight of each update since rc1, they are all heavy except accident, 20 to 40% of the weight of the full version. As long as it is, there will always be new bugs.
We need a series of light updates. ONLY fixed and only modify small important details.
The change on the covers may be a good idea, but why do that now? Has anyone here asked for this ???
Maybe someone asked, but he's not one of those who spend all their evenings trying to give good ideas and who spends his time testing everything, all the time.
So, I want to work for the community una, but not for this person, do you understand?
Anyway tonight, I doubt, I wonder if I'm in the right direction.
Andrew, you're going to tell me, yes, now we're going to stabilize, fine-tune. Yes, but that's what you've been saying for at least 6 months at least, and here I end up with a version where it's no longer possible to contact someone via a profile.
So here, I need to know where I'm going, I need a serious schedule that I can count on! When a stable and usable version ???
Who am I working for? For the community or for someone I do not know who needs specific things that few of us need?
Doubt not good for me. I do not do things well in doubt. So I prefer to abstain.
My new site is near, my members are hot, they are waiting for my green light. I wanted to redo what I already did with Dolphin.
The question is ... will I be able to start and when? I am reasonable enough to realize an error and backtrack. Do I have to do it? I'm wondering this question today.

      • UNA is wonderful, very innovative, full of nice features. but yes definetely we need the first stable release for a production site.

I believe that with the first stable release UNA will be a robust  framework, waiting impatiently.
Thanks UNA team for the hard work, thanks Baloo for intensive testing.

        • I am with you guys as well, it is frustrating and i can't open my doors yet. I've lost a couple of good potential clients. Like it's mentioned above, good ideas but a bit disappointed. :/

          • I agree with some things but there have been posts about the future and fixes. Supposedly it will happen. I think the community needs to sit back quiet and not post ideas or different ways to do things. Only post bugs without added insight. Let the team fix these bugs not reinvent them. Maybe then you will see a more stable version come through. In regards to not opening the doors to members....what's stopping you all? Mine are open and community is small but growing and will succeed. If we cannot build a community and help it grow whether by fixing things together or simply using the community, we don't belong as a community. Community is much like a marriage...it will never be perfect, it will have it's ups and downs, but it can succeed if both parties wish it to. If anyone doesn't have a site they wish to test or play around on, feel free to join mine at https://ooloo.me My door's always open.

            • Yes Jeremy, I agree, that's also true, that's why for me it's been a long time since I report that simple things, on my site, I have activated only the most basic modules , people, notifications, photos, videos, blogs, forums and Gossary that serves me faq and some third party modules that they function very well.
That's all I ask. I can say to the members, other things will come later, but what is here works very well. That he will accept.
Well, until rc10 it was impossible to get more than ten results, on a search, and the result presented first the oldest members.
This is enough to cause a disaster on a dating site.
This barely fixed in rc10, now that member no longer find mails and messenger on the profiles. Another disaster for a dating site.
Third catastrophic thing, these are the high resolution pictures available for unregistered.
Only one of these three things is enough to make members flee without return possible.
Basic things Jeremy, I did not ask anything sophisticated, just basic, quote me a complicated request from me, you will not find.
Yes that's right, Una works very well for a long time for everything we do here on una.io. Forums essentially and market, still happy.
But you're right, and I said it already when rc9 came out, a team is focused on too much complicated things, and lacks attention to the essentials. That's what despairs me.
That said people need groups, events, but there should not be any problems in all this for a long time, finally see, 10th rc there anyway and it is the basis!
Also Jeremy, no one here asked for Labels, Chanels, Changing the covers ... (which you do not seem to appreciate) As I said, all of this can be welcome, but when all of base is functional. I feel like we're working upside down. Do you add the 2nd and 3rd floor of a building if the 1st floor is not finished and dry?
We are a few here with sites waiting, for my part, mine waiting in my head for a year, and physically online for two months. It was Andrew who decided me by announcing great acceleration and encouraged the sites dolphin to pass on una.
Ok, I want me well, but must give the means, because there it is frankly not possible!
I am not a complicated person, and my members do not have the patent to fly a 747.

              • Hey Jeremy, it's true that I've started ideas like this: https://una.io/page/view-discussion?id=1525

But you have Alex prioritizing the ideas and he's doing that very well, I think. He put that in rc10. You can see that it is not a problem that affects us today ...

                • Yes Baloo - we hear you! And thank you for your feedback and relentless testing. UNA has been in constant expansion over many months, and as you righly point out, each new set of modules comes with a new set of bugs to fix. As  I understand it (and I'm sure Andrew will clarify this shortly) - we now have a full quota of modules, we won't be adding any more new modules for a while  - the team will now focus purely on fixing bugs and stabilising for the final version release. As well as improving our documentation and training to support the journey for new UNA users...

                  • Siriusly i feel that una  doing what dolphin had, bug fix and this fix etc. Why can't you do a comprehensive QA and get rid of all bugs, it's looks unprofessional which i know its not because there are highly skilled programers in you.

i am waiting some time to release and always see RC i am afraid that release will be buggy.

                      • Baloo :)) Andrew did answer this. Here.

Now let's pray that a Very_New_Mod... say, Terminals... or Portals... did not appear suddenly :)))

                        • Thank you for your feedback, everyone!

First of all, I want to make it clear that the RC11 will be a "fixes-only" release. And then, everything that we may need to release until the final V9 will also be fixes-only. It may require quick turnaround (2-3 weeks between updates).

As for why we've been adding so many new things lately... The reasoning is almost entirely based on financing our development. As a bootstrapped company we don't rely on any external investment and obviously, we haven't yet accumulated enough subscribers to fund ongoing development, testing and support costs. So, we have to make up by taking on custom implementation projects, which often require special features. Then we have to do that asap and include into the version anything that makes sense as a core feature. In a way, it's a matter of filling the gaps to execute some of the live-site projects.

Now we have a relatively complete set of core functionality in place, which we will be able to polish and test-out quickly. We also decided to hold off from any significant feature-updates ordered by clients for a while, as much as possible anyway.

As for the new JOT - we've isolated that from the core version, and it's developed by Alexey only at this stage to ensure we're not taking away from the main version updates. It is a crucial component needed for making native apps work fast (web-view just doesn't feel fast enough unless it works via something like ReactJS).

                          • I should also note that we will also push updates for the Modules as soon as tomorrow and the day after to address any issues that don't need core update.

                            • Okay, Andrew, I see now that he is going in that direction, forward all, I'm reassured to see him! ;-)
