If videos are already in H.264 mp4, do I still need to encode them?

I am wondering if there is a way to bypass encoding altogether for videos that are already encoded and UNA will just create the thumbnails. I already disabled webm, so there might not be any need to re-encode the videos.

    • Hello Joseph Capers ,

Video file should be processed with ffmpeg in any cases even if you already have video in proper format, because video may have not good video size (Height/Width) or sound streams with special encoding.

FFmpeg should process the video to generate thubmnails and it may execute processing mush faster if video has mp4 format.
