    • There are many related factors, the easiest and most effective way is to use external SMTP server, if software allows this.

      • Alex, with all due respect, your answer is rather weak.  It would have been better to not answer at all.  First of all, SMTP means Simple Mail Transport Protocol; it is a protocol for sending messages over the internet protocol.  So what do you mean by use an external protocol?  Did you mean to say use an external or third party email provider over running your own mail server?  How do you know that Will is not already doing so.  Emails going to a spam folder can be a problem even for large corporations which is why there are often notices about checking your spam folder when you sign up for newsletters and other emails.

Emails being rejected is often the problem a small user faces when running a mail server.  There are several things that can be done to improve acceptance levels; or to reduce bounce rates.  One is to have a proper MX record for your domain.  Another is to make sure you have a SPF record for your domain.  Finally, digitally signing emails can help.

Emails reaching a spam folder means that the recipient’s mail provider actually accepted the email but it was marked as possible spam and automatically redirected to the user's spam folder.  Not a whole lot one can do about this.  Carefully wording emails is the best one can do since we have no control over the recipient's spam settings.

        • So what would be the best thing to do in regards to notifications emails not to wind up in spam folder. There has to be a better way no? I tried to test out the mass mailer and those emails go to spam as well. Everything goes to spam. Does not matter the provide either,  i use gmail, yahoo, aol, etc... It's annoying in a way.

          • GeekGirl I said SMTP Server, not just SMTP. But to be more clear I should say "use SMTP server from reputable email sending service, for example Amazon SES, Mandrill."

We're using Mandril and problem with spam is solved. But there are many other good email sending providers.

            • There should be a better solution for this, i'm having such a problem with this

              • This is one way to resolve with gmail, but not many would know how to do this

                  • Will Monte good findings, but this has to be done by end users, which isn't good, it's better to find solution which is on the server side and will apply to all users without any actions on their side.

                    • I have this same issue. Any solutions ?

                      • Hi, what would u recommend Alex T⚜️

                        • The easiest and most effective way to make emails to go to Inbox instead of Spam folder is to use external SMTP server, such as Mandrill, Amazon SES, Sendgrid, etc. UNA has SMTP Mailer module which can be used for this.
