Notifications

I’ve noticed something and I wonder if there’s a way to correct this.  When I post to a members wall, I get two notifications: 1) I am informed that I have posted to their wall. I already know this. Why should I get a notification?  I actually think maybe I can turn this off but not sure. 2) I get a notification that they have posted on their wall. This is incorrect. I have made the post. I’m sure they get the same notification that they have posted on their own wall and are confused. Can this be corrected?
