    • Hello, yes, you can add the messenger block on a custom page and then add other blocks.

      image_transcoder.php?o=bx_froala_image&h=1306&dpx=1&t=1556642132

But not add blocks in the messenger block of course.

      • Ok, So if I want to combine messenger and blocks together, I must create new page, but not add blocks on messenger page...is that correct?

        • In theory you can too, but it seems that the messenger page is limited in height, so you can not see them. what to do then, is divide the page into 3 columns, but i think you will always be limited by the predefined height of this page.
If you create a new custom page, then you will not have this problem.

          • Note that in the case of the custom page, you do not have the full messenger, so you have a new public channel ...

            • Hello Lehigh Valley Social

You may add available in admin panel messenger block to any page and this block will contain private talk for members who can open this page.

I don't recommend to insert any blocks to main messenger page, because it's height and width are calculated and depend on device and all unnecessary spaces/footer/header are hidden with css and js.  If you add any new block to this page, it may break design and work of the page.

              • Can multiple members join the same conversation?

                • Yes. Suppose you create a page "salon", you add the messenger block on this page. It will create a channel "Salon", having access to this page can discuss from it. Note that here the height of the block is not total.

Side messenger, you will find this channel "salon", it is public. So the custom page serves as an entry point in a way. then, that you discuss on this channel in your messenger or on the page custom returns to the same.

                  • Great explanation, thank you Baloo  :)

                    • Thank you...

One more thing with messenger...is here a way to open messenger in an entirely "new window" instead of in a new "TAB"?  Would like my members to see 2 different pages at same time rather than click back and forth between tabs...

                      • Well each menu item can be opened in a new window via Studio => Navigation, but so you will multiply the same windows. For example, if like me, you used to use simple chat in dolphin, I found the window a bit boring at first. But the design of the messenger is different here, and finally to use I think it's the best solution.
                        Thank you Alexey ;-)

                        • Hello!

Lehigh Valley Social, I am not sure that I understand your idea. In default messenger window you may see the all talks and activities in them in real time and don't need to keep each talk in separate window. Also if you have many opened windows with talks you can not know in which one you have new message and you should to check each window. In default Jot window you may see in tabs' titles indicator when new message comes.

                          • I'm pretty sure it means a "detached" window, sort of a window that would behave just like the desktop app...

                            • My concern is that if my members are chatting, but want to use a different part of website, they have to keep navigating in the same window which seems frustrating... what are your thoughts on that?

                              • I've been doing some research and saw an "on Click" Html code that would open a page in a new fixed window size...would this be possible?

                                • May be It would be better to use desktop app for this purpose. Also we are working on React version. It can be integrated to any part of the page.

About default version: for me it is ok to use messenger in another tab when I checking other page of the site.

If you like to open messenger in new window you may add something like this window.open('page.php?i=messenger'); in studio -> navigation -> account notifications to onClick filed and also make empty URL option for the same messenger menu item.

                                  • UNA desktop is an alternative, just saying...
