In what, technically, UNA is better/different from Boonex ?

Except the business model changing with monthly recurring payment for modules ...technically what is on the table and what is the road map ? Its hard to get visibility from what i read on this website... no portfolio, few documentation, infos are missing ... upcomign major update delayed...cant really get a sense of it ...

    • I like that UNA is designed and developed for mobiles with every layout component optimized for mobile devices. Boonex is not. I love the BoonEx platform and used it for years but I think UNA is so much better. Just hope to see more modules available soon.

      • and yet after testing the mobile friendlyness of una.io , resutlts were weak, any one can share a una site powered with many users and good responsive wbe design ...am curious ...

        • 1. MIT license. Monthly fee is for updates for PowerApps only. You don’t have to pay anything if you use CoreApps it if you don’t want to access updates. The license is highly permissive.

          2. Separated Admin and configuration layers, which is crustal for large scale sites with multiple admins.

          3. Responsive UI.

          4. Multiple profiles per account support. Great for sites with various user types.

          5. Remote media storage support.

          6. Various types of Feeds.

          7. Contexts (groups, spaces, channels, events, profiles) and Content logic allowing for unique taxonomies.

          8. Configurable Notifications if all types.

          9. Built-in real-time Messenger (NodeJS).

As for the update - it’s mostly delayed due to large-scale websites performance updates, so I believe it is a good reason to hold off and improve performance.

          • I guess if you are looking to find a fault with anything you will. I personally thing it is awesome.

            • Thanks for the list of features, but in a nutshell, tell us the most differences between both ? and bit more of background on UNA team and Boonex relationship ...

              • find a fault ? ... all you are saying  is " its awesome" , i ask for facts and you reply by your opinion, which i respect however, people need more to make up their mind.

                • Boonex and UNA is the same team. UNA was first planned as a direct upgrade for Dolphin (Dolphin 8, originally), but due to the volume of changes and some core architecture difference, we had to release under a new name. Dolphin is now renamed to Dolphin Classic and is being phased out.

We see UNA as a superior platform, by design, but it does take a while to achieve feature-parity with Dolphin, especially if you rely on 3rd party modules. Since UNA 9 practically all main Dolphin features are available in UNA. From UNA10 and further, we will have enough functionality and 3rd party modules to migrate most Dolphin sites.

If you are only starting, definitely use UNA.

                  • I have both, when I have to work on dolphin, I have the impression that the time machine really exists. What Andrew explains in a few words looks simple, but for whom has followed all the story, in fact, the work done is really gigantic.
By cons, yes you're right, the app market is much poorer, it's a fact too, it's almost the only weak link compared to dolphin and other "cms". That's why I think it will necessarily develop soon.
Documentation question, well I think that UNA is well provided in relation to Dolphin. It is true that the learning of UNA is longer because there are so many more possibilities. Can always improve with time.

                      • UNA needs a marketer who can communicate and showcase their product properly. Its not all tech, if you cant sell it.
