Optimization & Improvements

I had the chance to meet with the State Board at one of their business meetings and discuss my UNA site. Several of the members joined the site after I presented it at the convention, and all were disappointed in it. Many said they couldn't get it to work the way that I did at the convention. That, I believe, is because I demonstrated 2 different sites to them and they may have thought they were both the same. Still, here are the issues addressed concerning UNA.

They said the site was "clunky".

My site loads Header warnings across the top on the home page now, and is also preventing the use of the Discussions page. I don't understand how I messed up the Header when configuring the site.

Can you recommend a php accelerator? My site takes a long time to load and people get tired of waiting.

The board members would like to see the site become more useful to them before offering any more money to build it. Their measurement for this is simply 50 more members. I can easily gain 50 more members, however my concern is that those members will get frustrated, like my local board members, when the site doesn't perform as well as they'd like.
If I can fix these two issues this week, then I can open up the site to 200 more people, set up 3 more groups, and teach everyone how to use the site in our summer workshops.

Please direct me to the proper channels for addressing these issues. I believe UNA will provide an invaluable resource to my organization, and I'm willing to invest my own money to demonstrate to the others why it is better to have our own site than to use multiple outside sites to communicate through.
Thanks for your help in making my vision a reality!

    • HI Btasey - please email this information along with your site url and admin login to support@una.io and one of our techs will take a look.

      • I just had my support help me speed up the site by changing the php to 7.3 and for reasons beyond my understanding, it not only sped up the site to a usable pace but also fixed the header warning! That warning is gone now!
So the site is running so well now that I can confidently invite others to test it out.
I wouldn't be able to do this site without your replies. I truly appreciate your excellent customer service!! Not only does it boost my confidence, but it is a bragging point that's been mentioned in multiple board meetings - as we discuss the reliability of the software we're investing in.

        • Also make sure to use v10b2 to have improved speed, especially with more site load.

          • This is happenig at 200 users what if i have a db of 150k users and get 10 k online at the ame time ?

            • Alex Mohammed I think the issues here were more due to outdated PHP than slow software or server load. If you scale to that size, we can certainly support you. The recent v10b2 update has done a lot of speed things up. A site of 150k users would certainly need some individualised attention, setting up remote storage and optimizing server load would also be required at this scale.
We do have sites at close to this scale (and growing), they are mostly running well, particularly with the recent update.
