Why can't admins see some items?

If I set a group, album, space etc visible to the Permissions level "Standard" then it seems I can't actually see those items when I'm logged in, since my Permissions level is "Administrator"

I had assumed that permission would propagate down?  Am i missing something or are the different permission levels mutually excluding to each other?   If so this makes the system of having more than one level impossible to use as you can't set things like "who can view" to be more than one level?

  • the way permission levels work is if you dont want to see it as admin set it to one or 2 permission levels but unckeck admin or mod or other the fact is if you need to work on it just check admin permission again then change it back after work is done its so admins can keep things out of sight when working on other things its so ppl have choice the way they want to work on stuff on there networks like the splash page for example most would make that only visable to unauthenticated

    hope this helped.

    • Not sure I understand what you are saying, sorry.

Let me explain with an image: If I create an event and set the "Visible to" entry to say "Standard" then only users who's account is at the Standard level will see it, if a user is a "Premium" user or Admin/Moderator, if they search for it , as shown here when user is a Premium account,  the event set with Standard visibility shows to them as 'Private'

      image_transcoder.php?o=bx_froala_image&h=2285&dpx=1&t=1570630163

This is because you can't set visibility to more than one level:

      image_transcoder.php?o=bx_froala_image&h=2286&dpx=1&t=1570630271

      • Yes i see what you mean this is a problem indeed Alex T⚜️

        • I have the same problem (https://una.io/page/view-discussion?id=3853).

Since the levels operate independently, then we need the ability to share to multiple levels. What's the current solution to share one post to only Paid levels(?), You would have to make multiple new posts for each level.

I think, Admin should always be able to see everything. So if a member makes an inappropriate post, and simply selects to make viewable to their group level, then as the site admin you will not know unless someone goes out of their way to tell you.

From my understanding, every level other then admin or operator can not see events unless they are invited to the event. Now you mentioned that you as admin can not see the events, that's weird, if i were you i would very carefully check your permissions and visibility settings, just saying.

            • To clarify, I have since found out that in fact no events other than Public ones are shown on the events page, even for any logged in users!  But yes, as an Admin if I go to search and do a blank search then I see them.   So at least that part I understand but also that now adds another layer of complexity that isn't really intuitive for users - I mean if an event is set to be visible for Premium users say, and a Premium user logs in and goes the the Event page and sees nothing...!
