HTML Widgets

Has anyone used HTML widgets on their site? I know in Dolphin I used a couple good widgets where you just copied and pasted the script on a page in HTLM editing mode. Seems like they could be useful on new pages but what are the downsides? Will it mess up updates? Are they just portals or would they actually function independent on your pages? Feedback appreciated please!

May tell about HTML widgets which would be inserted as HTML blocks on the pages: these actions will not affect on the future UNA upgrades definitely.

Yes, Will Monte , if the widget uses the Javascript / CSS code too - then needs to use the raw block.
