Custom Language Fields Surviving Updates

Hi, I needed a website in Italian and the language translation was not availabe from the App store so I started customizing (translating) the texts from the Polyglot app. Will the translated texts versions survive an UNA update, etc? Or I totally need to keep it as a separate language and customize it there? Thank you in advance for your response!
