One Signal

I've been playing with the onesignal site and i don't like the fact that conversations that are done on our sites are saved in the onesignal site. Our conversation that are established on our sites should stat on our sites and should not appear on another site. Too much info is stored on the onesignal site.

    • According to OneSignal documentation they collect the following information:

      https://documentation.onesignal.com/docs/data-collected-by-the-onesignal-sdk

I think other info is visible to you only as site owner.

      • It's too much, I would never install something like this on my site. OneSignal is a free service that supports unlimited devices and notifications. OneSignal makes money by selling data to advertisers and research companies. We also offer paid service options for clients that require increased data privacy.

If you do not want user data on your site to be sold to third parties, you must pay. But who guarantees this? I do not understand why we should allow another site to copy confidential information from our sites

The following are data you may manually send to OneSignal if your app asks for and receives permission from users:

        Data
        Description

        HashedEmail

May be sent using syncHashedEmail method, for use in Intelligent Delivery

        • I agree, I saw similar. I have been so close to removing the One signal from my site. I don't like at all the data they collect. I'm waiting to see what UNA will do to resolve this. :)

          • Thanks for bringing this up as I didn't know this was happening...

I too value privacy for my users!

              • Has this been resolved?

                • I am of your opinion too, it turns our users into consumer product, simply, and without their knowledge. I do not approve at all.

                  • It truly is annoying and a huge issue that definitely needs attention.

                    • We aren't forcing to use OneSignal for your websites, you have a choice to not use it. Also there is paid option in OneSignal to not sent user's data to any 3rd-parties.

If we'll integrate other alternatives to OneSignal, it will mean to store some data there as well.

In the future we'll consider to include own server for push notifications, but for now to make UNA configuration more easy we offer only OneSignal service.
