Storage Administration

So I was told that if I wanted to use S3 type storage that i would have needed to set that up when installing my site to begin with. I did not know that and so my question is what options are there for increasing my storage? Can I add volume storage? My site is set up on a VPS and I need to know the best course of action for increasing my storage for my site. Thanks!

    • It's possible to use Amazon S3 at some later stage, but you will need to transfer all existing files to S3. One more negative effect is that you will need to set all transferred files public on S3, it means that files will be always be accessible by direct link if someone knows the exact link address.

      • Well as you know I use Linode for my provider and they have introduced object storage as well. I would just need to know if UNA would work there. Im sure tech wise its the same but just not familiar enough to know whether there are any other factors I would need to consider and then most likely the same negative of public access would be there. If that is the case then most likely adding volume storage would be the most secure solution.

We didn't add any other object storages except Amazon S3 for now, however we plan to add more storage option in the future.

Please note that you will need to set "public" flag for existing files only, all files uploaded after switching to S3 will be properly secured.

          • So adding volume storage is my only option really as I don’t want to have that security weakness
