UNA 12 Install Instructions for Dummies?

Well finally figured out I have to upgrade to 12 Beta to be able to install the modules and have a functioning website. We hope.

So I download and upload the patch files and run the install, I get a 500 error. Fight with it for a while and finally at 10 last night ask my hosting company, hey can you guys help with this?  Response is sure. All I asked was they have it done by morning.

So is it done?  Nope.  Wake up this morning to:  Hey we backed up your site (which is nothing more UNA 11.0.4) installed with nothing else at all) and the ? Of so you have the instructions because we don’t know what we’re doing

So does anyone know what the permissions need to be or have install instructions for UNA 12 so I can just get this done and move on to actually building the site?

    • If this is for a new site (fresh install), there are two options that i know.

      1. The easiest is to use Softaculous from Cpanel, it will create the database and user for you.

      2. Upload UNA files to your domain folder and run the installer. For this you will have to create database and user manually first.

      • No way to install UNA 12 from cPanel as it’s not in Softaculous yet. I did locate a post by Alex T on the topic. https://una.io/page/view-discussion?id=6947

        • Same issue here. I just installed a new site and my core is 11.04 and the apps downloaded are for 12.00. Apart from 2 apps i can't install any app as there is no option to choose between for which core i have to install the apps.

          • Hello, I am new to the platform too and when I first installed a few days ago, I also received a 500 error.  It had to do with some php settings, which are noted, along with some other requirements on Github.  I would link directly to the page, but my permissions on this site are not allowing me to share links.  So, go to Github and search una, click the first result, then click wiki in the top menu, scroll down and click requirements (under the getting started section).

I had to dig around for a while before I figured out what I had to do in Cpanel so if you need further detail, please let me know.

I'd start with your htaccess file, what version of PHP are you on? In your cPanel, you should be able to see some error logs. That would help us.
Permissions to change should only be the ffmpeg.exe for processing video.

              • Also this

If the 500 error is on the index page of your site, try using this. yoursite . com/studio/
