Animated gif preview
In the first versions of UNA, the preview of the #gif was animated, now it is no longer, it's a shame, there is a reason for that?

If previews were animating, then they weren't resized. Now they are resized. During resizing GIF animation is removed.

Is there any way to re-enable gif animations throughout the site?

Please bring back animated GIFs. Either resizing for animated GIFs should be included or turned off (since GIFs are already edited and compressed).
