If you have installed Messenger before 11.0.0, here's how to fix... 

Studio> Developer> Navigation> Items> System> Toolbar Member

Click on 'Add New Item'

Module: Messenger

Set: sys_toolbar_member

Name: notifications-messenger

System Title: _bx_messenger_menu_notifications_item_sys_title

Title: (nothing to write here just hit space bar three times to leave it blank)

Link: page.php?i=messenger

Icon: far comments col-green1

Copyable: enabled

Save

Newly created 'Messenger', click Edit and add the following...
