Froala vs TinyMCE, Which one is better?
Hello,
I would like to know your opinions. What is the difference between those two editors (their Pros and Cons) and which one is better?
Also what editor is being used here on UNA.io?
Thanks

Hello @OneEagle !
If we were invited to choose the better one it needs to know the list of criteria. Here, on una.io, we use Froala.

Hi @LeonidS Thanks for your reply. If I asked this question it's because I have read many controversial posts about the editors here on UNA.io. Some are saying that Froala is mobile friendly than TinyMCE. Some, that TinyMCE has more features than Froala. Some posts even suggest that UNA is going to drop Froala and leave TinyMCE has a default editor. I don't know whether this information is accurate.
Also, i use Froala on my site but why is mine so different than the one used here on UNA.io (Both desktop and mobile)? How to get it look like the editor used here?
What information have you put in the following field in Studio > Froala App (here on Una.io):
Toolbar buttons for mini editor
Toolbar buttons for mini editor (mobile)
Toolbar buttons for standard editor
Toolbar buttons for standard editor (mobile)
Toolbar buttons for full editor
Toolbar buttons for full editor (mobile)
Would you mind sharing the UNA.io editor settings? Thanks

Hi @Will Monte Thanks for your reply but unfortunately it is not what I asked for. You just posted a sreenshot of the Froala default settings. I already have them on my Froala App.
What i have asked @LeonidS , of course if he doesn't mind, is to share the Froala settings used here on UNA.io website. I would like my Froala editor to look like the one used here on UNA.io. It's more intuitive and full of essential buttons/features than the default one.

Correct, if i'm not mistaking, you can add plugins & buttons by going to your studio > Froala app > on the left click information and you will see the options like on the picture below, there you can add what you desire.
-
You will need.....Froala app
-
Another way is to go to studio>developer>from left menu choose settings which is the first icon on the left>scroll down to TinyMCE plugins for mini editor, there u can also customize what you desire...

Comon! You are keeping on posting screenshots. I already have what you are talking about and know them. Please read my post carefully. It's not what i am looking for. I will be waiting for @LeonidS reply. Thanks.

I was trying to help someone who wanted to make the froala look like una.

Hello @OneEagle !
Well, honestly dear @Will Monte (thnx, mate!) closed your question as he has shown how to work with the Froala settings, plugins, and buttons. After this info our details about plugins like:
emoticons,embedly,draggable,fullscreen,image,link
and the buttons for example in the full editor for mobile:
{'moreText': {'buttons': ['bold', 'italic', 'underline', 'strikeThrough', 'clearFormatting'], 'buttonsVisible': 0}, 'moreParagraph': {'buttons': ['alignLeft', 'alignCenter', 'alignRight', 'formatOL', 'formatUL', 'paragraphFormat', 'paragraphStyle', 'outdent', 'indent', 'quote'], 'buttonsVisible': 0}, 'moreRich': {'buttons': ['insertLink', 'insertImage','emoticons', 'embedly', 'insertHR'], 'buttonsVisible': 0}, 'moreMisc': {'buttons': ['undo', 'redo', 'fullscreen', 'html'], 'align': 'right', 'buttonsVisible': 2}}
will be not so useful :-)

Hi @LeonidS
Thanks for your reply. I already had Foala installed in my system and I knew how it works. So those screenshots were not really relevant for me although I appreciate the help.
What I was asking for is if you could mind sharing Froala settings used here on Una.io website because I wanted my editor to look exactly like the one used here. It's more intuitive than the default one.
Here are the settings I asked for::
Toolbar buttons for mini editor
Toolbar buttons for mini editor (mobile)
Toolbar buttons for standard editor
Toolbar buttons for standard editor (mobile)
Toolbar buttons for full editor
Toolbar buttons for full editor (mobile)
Also sharing them will save me time as I will just copy and paste them into my Froala settings.
Thanks.

Thank you mate! :)

Hi @LeonidS , Just curious: Is the editor used right now on UNA.io really the Froala Editor as you replied above or the new Quill Editor that was introduced in UNA 13? Thanks.

Oh but how come I can't get my Froala Editor to look like the one used here? Also I have inspected many pages with the editor on them using the Web inspector in chrome, I don't see any reference to Froala, only references to Quill. Very confusing. How do you explain it?

Does anyone know why the Quill editor is not converting HTML to Natuira;l text? All the code is in every profile I imported.
-
Hello @Jon Coward !
May you please specify the set of actions to reproduce it?
-
Quite simply, I used the Dolphin migration tool and it brought the profiles over with HTML showing on the editor non-html view.. lot's of <p>'s <div>, etc...
-
The site is 504'd due to an incompatible module so i can't get you examples right now.
But the profile would look like <p>Hi, My name is Dave and I'.m single</p> on the front end
-
Hello @Jon Coward !
The ticket has been created https://github.com/unaio/una/issues/3964 . For now, you may apply the following fix:
1) Backup UNA table bx_persons_data.
2) Run the following MySQL query:
UPDATE `bx_persons_data` SET `description`=replace(`description`, '<p>', '');
3) Repeat for all necessary tags like </p>, <div>, </div> etc.

It has seemed to work, but people need to be slow and wait from cache to clear beyond the Main cache for some son.
