    • Messenger is better, Chat + Rocket chat are nightmares

      • Hi Will, I thought you had to have one installed in order to use the shoutbox or the new messenger... my mistake.

          N, GG advised me not tpo, cause it's a nightmare. I think she did figure it out, but she has been busy like a mofo. I decided not to have Chat + nor Rocketchat, so i'm sticking with messenger.

          • Cool. Thanks Will. So I will have to install Jot server then... sheish....

            • Cool. Thanks Will.

              Your welcome bro!

              • I agree. You can create a custom page using messenger that "looks" like a chat and can be used as one as well. According to Alexey, they are working on improvements to expand the messenger to have Chat functionality... such a public channels/rooms, etc.. I am betting that BoonEx will eventually ditch both Chat+ and Rocket Chat..

                See my topic I create on this exact thing here:

                    Will it have its own page? I did create a page a while back, but the block was too small

                    • Hey Will Monte yes, it will have it's own page so, to set it up from scratch, you would do this.

                      1. Go into Studio > Pages click Add New Page

                      2. Click the Settings button and choose the layout you want - 1 column, 2 column, etc.

                      3. Click Add Block and scroll to messenger and add the messenger block where you want it.

                      4. Click View Page and get the URL to this new page cause you will need it later. (i.e. page/NewPageName)

                      5. There is a trick to making the chat box bigger since I could never get it to work using custom CSS. You will need to click Add Block again. This time choose RAW block and add it to your page. Click the Raw block to edit it and make just these changes:

                      -- Block Layout = Content

                      --Inside the content box, add this code:

                      <style>

                      .bx-messenger-table-wrapper .bx-messenger-table-wrapper-rows {

                      background-color: ;

                      }

                      .bx-messenger-table-wrapper div.bx-messenger-table-wrapper-rows:first-child .cell

                      {

                          height:600px;

                      }

                      </style>

                      NOTE: You can change the height:600px; to whatever you desire but 600 is pretty good. Don't worry. this box will not display on the page 😁

                      Now that you have your Page built, you need to add it to your Site Navigation so members can get to it. Go into Studio > Navigation > Site Navigation

                      Click Add New Item. Give the new menu a System and Title name (what you want the menu item to be named). In the URL portion, paste the URL you got from View Page earlier. You should only need page/NewPageName here. Give it a icon and BAM. There you have it.

                        Cool thanks!

                        • You're welcome

                          • After reviewing the requirements for Messenger and Rocket chat, it seems like both would not be appropriate for a shared hosting platform.  Is that correct?  Is there another synchronous option that would work on a shared hosting platform?

                              • I will take a look at it as an option.  Is my understanding correct that Messenger and Rocket chat won't work well on a shared server?

                                • I see now that your free Jot server is just part of the UNA modules.  My issue is that my host (GoDaddy) will not allow NodeJS on the shared server.  Is this a showstopper, MSolutions ?

                                  • You dont need NodeJS if you use our free service.

                                    Una messenger has 2 Parts, the CLIENT Module and the NodeJS SERVER, you just need to install the UNA Messenger Module in your website and start using our free server. We have NodeJS in our servers making this work for you so you don't need to do that part. This is exactly what you need for your using UNA Messenger in shared hosting.

                                    MSolutions.

                                    • I finally have Messenger installed on my site.  Is there a feature that will make the talks always visible at the bottom of the screen like there was with Dolphin?

                                      • Hello,

                                        This feature doesn't exist in current configuration. May be we will add it to the future version.

                                        • That would be great because it would be useful to be able to chat with someone WHILE interacting with the rest of the site like we did with Dolphin.

                                          • UNA is meant for Mobile devices so having a chat feature at the bottom may clutter the design meant for Mobile Devices.
