I have plenty of memory, and my files have the correct permissions.
I am trying not to create all these duplicate threads, I wish we had a SVN type submission que for these things, it would probably be easier.. 🤣😁

I remember having the same kind of problem a long time ago, take a look here at the solution I had found.

while we're here i checking logs, and bx_profiler has some very long opens.. longest one was 53 seconds! but one thing at a time..

ok! after changing max_execution_time from 30 to 480, now i have this happen.
video transcodes, (i watched the sql database move through the 4 entries in real time..)
30seconds was set previous, which prevented the que from even showing up when cron was run..
okay so now that cron hooks the transcoder correctly, this is next problem:
video shows as attachment, but will not insert into post..
will try to change default quality to hd in dev module, from sd
update 10 minutes or so later: video quality changed to hd from sd...
watching transcoder que.... it's now running through videos from bx_messenger...
I assume there have been a whole backlog of videos that have been back-logged and trying to run every time the site is used or webserver is rebooted, and this has been causing the long page opens as well...
perhaps in about an hour or three all old videos will be processed and i will find a transcoder que blank :)
tried to upload 148meg test video just now that anton had requested, and also i will note that i changed my ffmpeg to the latest x64 nightly...
ONE WEIRD THING... I had to take the linux binary and add .exe onto the end .... for una's script to detect it as executable.. consider changing this, it's confusing and non standard unix/ gnu/linux behavior... not a standard convention whatsoever.
hmm. yup, any video over a certain size is killing php and php has been allocated plenty of memory. and by plenty i mean it can spawn into 3 gb if it feels a need to...
pattern is this: it launches 4 workers, 41m physical, 450m virtual, and a few minutes later it dies. and then cron emails me about it. however, it's really strange - it's emailing me the flags for 94 megs and 64 megs, even though
/etc/php.ini has been adjusted
/home/siteuserForUna/.php/phprc has been adjusted.....
this is very peculiar.....

James Zandreiatti - yes, its fixed. I just saw this. There were a few main pinch points. You said you're using a shared ? or are you using a VPS? or is your server dedicated?
- I had to tweak memory limits in php, at the main level of the system wide php, because the phprc was not being respected for the user level. (this is a config issue with different versions of php running domains as virtual hosts..) not an una problem.
- also, i had to add this ini_set flag inside /inc/utils.inc.php that baloo had pointed out, which limits the total amount of concurrent memory una is allowed to lock for transcoding purposes. I've set it to roughly 3x the size of my max upload size, but I feel I can reign this in to 2.2x, just have not tested out that configuration yet to validate it.
- also, it was necessary to set a max_execution_time = flag in the php config. i set mine to 500 seconds.
- also, i had to clear the mysql table for the transcoder, and clear the una cache.
- also, it works much better running APC for cache, versus file cache. if you know that you have a version of php in the 7 series as your version of php, you should have APC configured already by default, in the webserver, without having to turn anything on...
i have dedicated server access, if you have the ability to ssh , these are things you can check into, but if you are on a vps you may or may not have the permissions to change them, if you are on shared, then you will have to email your webhost about making these changes for you, because they could have disasterous effects on the rest of the users websites that run on the same box as yours.
