Comment to 'Rocket Chat and JOT Messenger'
  • Hello!

You don't need to have 3 different servers, because Rocket Chat and Jot messenger can work on the same node js version, thus you don't need to have any other specially configured servers.

It is hard to say exactly about network bandwidth, because it depends on many factors.

We are working on Jitsi integration for video streaming, it should be available very soon.

    • Brilliant! Thanks a lot. 😊

      • Hi Alexey. just for curiosity, where are conversations and messages saved? In the UNA site Database or on the JOT server? I really doesn't know the function of the JOT Server. What it does exactly. That's why i am asking.

Since two sites on the same or different servers can use the same JOT server, what about if, at a given time, one decides to migrate each site on its own server and split the JOT server, meaning making each site on its own server to have its own JOT server installed on it, How will this affect the two UNA site installations? That's why I have asked whether conversations and messages are saved  on the UNA site Database or JOT server.

Because I am kinda worried if making a UNA site that was previously sharing the JOT server with another UNA site to start using its own JOT server installed on its own server, will affect the UNA site or will get the old conversations and messages deleted/lost. Thanks

        • Hello!
Jot Server it is server's app which allows members to communicate  in Messenger in real time. In other words It allows to see that the user is typing a message or away or update your chat window without messenger's page reloading when you get new message.

Jot Server doesn't store anything in local server's files and in addition messages are not sent through the server. So, Jot Server just redirects commands from members in Messenger to update the chat window.

The all messages store in site's database and Jot Server don't see them and doesn't save them.
