Jot Messenger

After TMD Hosting installed jot server the messenger at first connects then disconnects and remains in connection mode. Has anyone encountered this problems? How to solve?

    • Hello!

      1) Please be sure that you have set correct link with right port in UNA -> Studio -> Jot Messenger settings for Server URL for messenger option. Usually it is your domain with port (Example: https://yourdomain.com:5443).

      2) Check please if the hosting really opened the port for external connection, using telnet command, example  

      telnet yourdomain 5443

      If it doesn't help send me please your access info via PM I will check.

      • Were you able to get JotM working on your TMD hosting server?

        I got a VPS with them this week but Jot is not connecting, i'm seeing the same issue "Connecting........" but never connects. Jot server was installed by TMDhosting and my Una site was also configured by them.

          Yes, it should work on TDM if they open the port and install required software. Seems like they didn't open the port for external connections. Can you please send me the port number I will check?

          Also you may provide me with server access vi PM, I will check how jot server was installed.

                    In your case problem is that you try to use not secure server for Jot messenger module which is installed on secure site.  I described this problem here https://una.io/page/view-discussion?id=1815

                    Problems may occur if you install Jot Server on server without certificate and then try to use link from this server on https (secure) sites, in this case all requests from https sites will be blocked by your browser, because in most cases browsers don't allow to load not secure content (http) to secure sites (https).

                    Example: if Jot messenger installed on https://mysite.com and server on http://my.jotserver.com, it will not work because browser will block not secure requests, 

                    but it will work if: 

                    1) Site on https://mysite.com and server on https://my.jotserver.com

                    2) Site on http://mysite.com and server on https://my.jotserver.com

                    3) Site on http://mysite.com and server on http://my.jotserver.com

                        This helped allow the messenger to show up. Thank you! Now its just saying "send message is not allowed for your account." I have the privilege enabled however.

                        • it works for my site.. however - as asked tmd to put in a routine to restart the jot server every day because it seems to go to sleep or something.

                          • UNA probably needs to coordinate with TMD about what a certified host is.. and the configuration they need to have... do this now.

                              Do you have this problem in Messenger block on groups/spaces page or in main Messenger window?

                              • It would be better to create custom service on the server. It allows to restart Jot Server automatically after reboot and etc... Also If you run Jot Server using forever or any other node js module, it also allow to track and restart Jot Server  when it is not responding.

                                  This error may occur when you try to send a message to the private block and in the same time your a not a participant of this block.
