What about black friday sale for modules???

Vendors may do something - we will see I guess. We don’t do any special discounts anymore. We are a bootstrapped company operating at cost, and It seems fair to set the regular price appropriately instead of flash-sell and then struggle to support.

Also, this holiday season is going to be quite busy for us - licensing changes, v11 release, a few custom projects going live. Busy, though not in a Scrooge-like way... more in a “let’s get more stuff done while everyone’s partying“ sort of way. So, not really the time for specials. 🥴😁

I can see how it may make sense to some retail businesses that anticipate slowdown in holiday period and need to boost turnover just before, so one day is universally known as the day for shopping madness.

On the other hand, I find the concept of price-driven shopping really sad. When people buy stuff just because it is suddenly more affordable than it normally is, and no because they actually need it, is just a show of how we often form our consumer choices entirely in the vacuum of personal impulse, disregarding the environmental impact, economical prudence and often common sense. In other words, if most people who buy stuff of on Black Fridays would NOT buy the same stuff on another day for higher price at all, because they don’t really need it that much, then all BF does is making people turnover more resources for no good reason.

There may be cases when people actually need something very much and wait until BF to be able to afford it, but that’s very rare.

In Australia, Black Friday is taking hold, yes. We trail USA in many ways, so no surprise here.

I truly hope that this is all just a growing phase of the humanity... like a puberty feat... something to grow out of. Hoping that some day in the future a day like Black Friday would mean that everyone is rushing to spend time outside with their family, maybe plant a tree or help someone in need.
