Persons module - Limit persons search attempts (anti-flood) and set minimum search characters

Good day!
I am trying to limit the search attempts as user can perform in a short period of time (anti search flood), if that is possible, because this can significantly slow down the server if too many queries are being performed, or if someone is being ill intended, especially if there doesn't seem to be any setting of limiting the minimum input characters inside the persons search form. I am really concerned about this. Any suggestion is welcome. Thank you.

      • You can set minimum characters for searching for site search in Studio > Developer > Settings

        For custom search forms (like Persons > Search) you can set minimum characters using Forms Builder.

        Also you can make search faster and less load on the server by enabling FULLTEXT search, however it applies to site search only: Studio > Settings > General:

          Unfortunately I can't seem to find a per-module setting where I can set the limit you mentioned in custom  search form Persons > Search. And trust me, I searched a lot. Any suggestion?

            Sorry, I thought it should be here - Persons > Search it's in Studio > Forms > Search Fields > Module: Persons > Form: Persons Search, but it isn't there, sorry. 

            So there is no possibility to limit number of characters in search form for now, you can only hide search form for some membership levels - for example for non authorised users.

              That's not really a solution. All the registered are actually authorised, but we can't escape the human nature, especially when your community is made of gamers which sometimes they like to screw things around.... Would you at least consider implementing this feature in the future releases? This would save other community owners a lot of headaches and resources, and prevent abuse/flooding of the search system.
