S3 Delete fails

I've some missing post cover photos from S3 storage. When I try to edit the post to remove the old cover (which is missing from the S3), I receive the following error: 

PHP Warning: S3::deleteObject(): [404] Unexpected HTTP status in /var/www/una/plugins/amazon-s3/S3.php on line 374 

it sounds that the S3 doesn't delete the old cover photo if the file is missing from storage. Any idea how to get this fixed? how to remove the old cover to allow a new cover photo to be uploaded?
