UNA APP - Rejected, can't demonstrate VOIP incoming call

We tried submitting the latest version of the UNA app to Apple for approval, the app was rejected by Apple "Performance: App Completeness" because we can't demonstrate VOIP, specifically incoming calls.

When making a call to the Mobile App, no call notification appears:

  1. On the phone
  2. In the APP

Apple are expecting a notification as per the Header Image in this post.

Alexey do you have any suggestions on how to get the app to show incoming call notifications?

    • You can disable VOIP support in your app before submitting, this feature is used in Jitsi Meet, but it isn't used for now in UNA app.

      • Thank you Alex T⚜️

To clarify, Jitsi is not fully integrated into UNA App and it should be disabled completely for app submission to Apple?

        • If I understand correctly that if we are going to have an apple app developed that we can not have Jitsi functional? Then we will also loose our video conferencing on our Android app as well? If this is true then why is video conferencing even integrated in the platform since most social media users are mobile users?

          • Correct, you can not have Jitsi running. Apple will reject your app for being incomplete. This means that you will loose video conferencing on Android and Web as well.

UNA's notification system is broken and has been broken for a very longtime. The UNA team are not good a providing solutions to problems and it is very frustrating. Alex T⚜️

            • I get the impression that development has realized with v12 that they have spent too much resources on developing new features and not enough on reliability. Personally I would rather have a Chevy on the road than a Porsche in the garage. Their crediability is not going to be built on having alot of features that constantly have issues but on relibility of those features. For serious site developers they will frustrate them to the point of just throughing up their hands and calling it quits. I have often consider doing that myself after spending almost as much time trying to get something to work or waiting for the fix as developing the site. I think UNA has great potential and may in the next 10 years or so become a professional site builder platform. Right now if you want a simple site it works fine.

              • Perhaps UNA team will offer bounties in the future. A lot of us are programmers and web developers already and have figured our ways around many of the bugs. Bounties would offer incentive for those of us that do fix bugs on our own to share these fixes and workarounds with the community. I was just about to start building my apple app for testing, however losing video features would be very discouraging. We cant totally blame UNA team for that either considering apple has recently been known to disable features in their app store submissions to stifle competition from its own products.

                • Thank you Alex T⚜️

Jitsi isn't fully integrated, since there are a lot of features in it, but it doesn't mean it can't be used.

I think all you need is to disable VoIP functionality when you are submitting app to Apple Store, by unchecking this checkbox:

                  • That's an excellent idea.  But I would extend it and let some of the willing and able programs take on some of the support and customization duties.  It takes way too long to get issues resolved.
