Mass Mailer?

In dolphin,  there was a mass mail program used to email all members.  Does UNA have the same capability?

    • In UNA we have Malchimp integration module which do this work much better.

      • Yep. Worked really good for me. I installed it, signed up, generated the API keys, created a list, generated my subscribers, and start to look at how to send emails and then.... BAM.. My account gets disabled due to a violation in 'Compliance Terms of Service Suspension'. I haven't even done anything outside of setup my account.

        Works great!.. Not.

        • We stopped providing mass-mailer functionality mostly because in most cases when you send mass-mail from own server it gets blacklisted by email providers. It is better to connect with an external specialised service. Apart from MailChimp, there is integration with Intercom, which is more capable but a bit dearer. It is also possible to synchronize databases with other providers, like OneSignal Messages or Amazon SNS, but we'd need to have some idea on which is a preferred one to create additional integrations.

          • So basically, I looked into MailChimp and it requires that you send your home address in the emails <-- Do not want

Intercom requires a monthly fee <-- prefer not to have

So in conclusion, if users have receive site notifications set to yes, you must either pay a monthly fee or have your home address in the emails. That's just lovely. Neither is something I am wanting to do. UGH!

              • As Alex noted - we already commissioned a mass-mailer app. It’s first come out with basic segments, but will radically evolve to work with the future system wide segmentation tool. The work has already begun on that one, so expect the first builds in a few weeks.

                • Chris you will see that Andrew Boon talks about this and our planned development for an UNA Mass Mailer in his latest vlog

                  • But yes Andrew Boon   you are 100% right, I experimented with it and that's exactly what it's produced, so it's useless.
Moreover, with your server you have no follow-up of your campaign, you are blind about what you are doing, so it is a waste of time and a method that does more harm than good.
But it can be easily resolved since we already have the module "smtp mailer" it is easy to divert all mail traffic to an external SMTP service.
So Massmailer in Una will work without problems and without inconvenience.

Maybe this may interest you, it is not expensive + -10 $ for 30.000 mails per month, and what is rare, it also accepts any type of site, you have a follow-up of the traffic, a very good rate of delivered, fast and efficient service, and they have an api.

                    • The issue with having your own server and getting blacklisted is because (like myself), people do not usually set a PTR for reverse DNS so that the emails comes from your domain name and not the IP address.

It's also wise to monitor Spamhaus to make sure you are not blacklisted there. A TON of websites use that to determine if you are a spammer or not. It's pretty simple to get unblocked from there once you get everything setup on your server.

I couldn't even post my website on Twitter because I was blacklisted at Spamhaus and not to mention, MailChimp also suspended my account for this. Once I submitted to be removed, everything went well.

                      • Did you all ever come up with a solution for Mass Mail?
