UNA updates

Andrew Boon  LeonidS Alex T⚜️

I'm sure everyone here that is setting up a site with UNA would feel the same way and please speak up if you read this and do.

I do realize that you guys are very busy but...   Is there any way possible that the updates to the UNA software can come more frequently? That would help us trying to set up our sites to receive bug fixes and updates much more frequently.

    • I think that if it were that simple, they would be updated as corrections are received.

If this is not critical, frequent updates make no sense. Big updates are nicer😊

      • Hi John! Frequent updates are Great, though too frequent is not so great. There is a certain update cycle overhead, which makes very frequent updates not so time efficient. For example, every feature-update release requires about 2-3 days of packaging, libraries updates and upgrade-patch development. In most cases a few public beta-releases are nessessary as well. Pre-release testing usually ads a few days, too. In effect, it’s taking about 3-5 weeks to release after feature development lockdown. So, it seems that somewhere between 3 to 6 months is a ideal cycle for a major feature update.

Also, not that frequent updates cause massive secondary overhead - everyone is installing, updating, merging with custom mods; we directly update large/customised client sites; support questions spike; documentation and website needs updates; market listings need editing, etc, etc.

        • Thanks for the reply Andrew Boon .  I do see your point, or points.. I have only one site to be concerned with and you have much more to deal with than I was aware of.  I'll hang back and keep up with whats going on here. I'm sure when the next update or 11 comes around it will be worth the wait.

          Thanks again
